Lagging behind on my journal writing again… I really wish I could keep up a little better than I do now…
Just to share on some things I learnt. I finished reading The Psychology of Persuasion some time ago. I will need to read through the book again to practice the skills mentioned. I would like to mention a particular point in Chapter 12 about WIN/WIN. His grandmother gave him a piece of advice when he got married. She said, “Marriage is 90/10; not 50/50. You give 90% and expect 10%.” When I first read it, I thought it was true how couples view their marriage as a 50/50 contract; you do your part then I will do mine. Reflecting on the examples of Jesus; His model is 100/0! While we were yet sinners, He died for us! That is giving 100% and not expecting anything in return. Paul shared in Philippians 2:
3Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
4do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
